Agriculture the the biggest profession around whole of the universe. Though now a days it is in progress and the conditions are much better now than previous times with the use of pesticides insecticides and chemical fertilizers. These chemicals have greatly increased the crop yield by reducing the losses from insects pest and other biotic and abiotic factors which often reduce the crop yield and ultimate result is the bad economic conditions of farmers or may be the shortage of food.
But these practices have greatly aroused big health hazards due to the residual effects of these chemicals with the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides. Also the number of various birds have been decreasing day by day due to the poison they eat when they prey the insects of the crop plants. There occurs no growth of chicks in their eggs as reproductive system fails due to poisoning from the chemical which the farmers have sprayed on the crops. So indirectly we are harming our environment and worsening our surrounding. I can give you the example around my village , when i was in my childhood i was totally surrounded by the house sparrows, but now a days i hardly see these small beautiful birds. these are very much sensitive to the harmful chemicals. also the big scavengers the vultures they are also getting extinct. when after death these birds eat cattle flesh, the accumulated poison of chemicals effects in the same way as in case of house sparrows. we the human beings are also getting prone to high blood pressure, depressions and weaknesses like headaches, weak memory , stomach pains etc and other major problems too may be asthma cancer and all as we are taking these chemicals with the foods we eat and may be through the milk of our milch animals.
Also the insects pests are becoming resistant to the chemicals with the due course of time. Hence the new pesticides and insecticides are being formulated with higher lethal doses which show even more harmful effects.
We are also using lot of water when we spray these chemicals on large acres of land so as to avoid the attack of insect pests but side by side we are depleting the water table of inside usable water of earth.
So the basic need is to think about this problem and we should proceed towards Organic farming by growing maximum resistant or tolerant varieties with high yield on low costs. We also have to urge the growers of organic farming products to sell their products at cheaper prices so that the poor people can also think of these and can avail the opportunity of the good food they always seek for and dream for.
